Our flight is aimless (2025 - )
Our flight is aimless is inspired by the invasive Japanese Beetles that eat lace-like patterns into the leaves of trees in Mi’kma’ki every spring and summer since their introduction in 1939 by an unwitting tourist. The government of Canada fact sheet for Popillia Japonica (Japanese Beetle) writes “their flight is aimless”. The ongoing “warfare” with Japanese Beetles reveals the deep connection between economy and ecology that is frequently ignored in favour of keeping “business as usual”.
