Our flight is aimless (2025 - )
Inkjet prints backlit film, light panel. 20”x20”.Our flight is aimless is a series made using colour film to photograph backlit leaves. The negatives are then hole-punched and digitized. This work is inspired by the invasive Japanese Beetles that eat lace-like patterns into the leaves of trees in Mi’kma’ki every spring and summer since their introduction in 1939 by an unwitting tourist. The government of Canada fact sheet for Popillia Japonica (Japanese Beetle) writes “their flight is aimless”.
This body of work is ongoing.
